Ingredients

1 lb ground sausage (pork, turkey, or plant-based)
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (substitute with gluten-free flour for gluten-free version)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup milk (or dairy-free alternative)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or non-stick spray
  • Cookie scoop or tablespoon for shaping balls

Method

Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sausage, flour, cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, baking powder, black pepper, and salt.
Add Liquid: Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring until everything is well combined. The mixture should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Form Balls: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake: Bake the sausage balls for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and fully cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/71°C).
Serve: Allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving, and enjoy!

              Notes

              • Low-Carb Option: For a keto-friendly version, simply substitute the all-purpose flour with almond flour or a low-carb baking mix.
              • Make-Ahead: These sausage balls can be prepped and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking. Alternatively, freeze them for future use.
              • Adjusting Flavor: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicier kick. You can also experiment with other cheese types like mozzarella for a milder flavor.
