Equipment

  • Tart pan (9-inch)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Oven

Ingredients

1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

3 large apples, peeled and sliced

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour for GF version)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare Crust: Place your pie crust into a tart pan, pressing it into the bottom and sides. Prick the crust with a fork to prevent bubbling during baking.

Make the Filling: In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples, chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt. Stir until the apples are evenly coated.

Assemble the Tart: Pour the apple and pecan mixture into the prepared tart shell. Spread it out evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the apples are tender.

Cool: Let the tart cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

              Notes

              • The tart provides a balance of healthy fats from the pecans and a natural sweetness from the apples and brown sugar.
              • For a lighter version, you can reduce the amount of sugar or use a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit.
              • This dessert can be made gluten-free by swapping the flour with a gluten-free blend and using a gluten-free crust.
